A delegation of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC), the American Soybean Association and Growmark visited Poland October 17-19 to study Poland’s attitudes and legislation regarding biotechnology.

The team, organized by the NCFC and hosted by the US Department of Agriculture office at the embassy, met with Poland’s Agricultural Extension Service and visited dairy and crop farms.  Before visiting Poland, the team was in Prague, Czech Republic to meet with other farm organizations from around the globe to discuss farm policy and to move ahead the debate on freer trade.

Participants in the delegation were U.S. farmers who are also on the boards of directors of farm cooperatives -- businesses owned and controlled by farmers, ranchers, and growers. Such cooperatives differ from other businesses because they are member-owned and operated for the mutual benefit of the members.
