Documentary on Pulaski – “A Polish and American Hero”

The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw was one of the sponsors of the screening of the documentary on the life of American Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski. The film by Polish documentary film director Jolanta Kessler-Chojecka is entitled: "Casimir Pulaski, Polish and American Hero." The event took place on October 17th at 6:00 p.m.at the Center of Contemporary Art in Zamek Ujazdowski. Other representatives of organizations co-financing production taking part included: Poland’s Ministry of Defense, the Polish Film Institute, Polish Public Television, the American Council for Polish Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and private Polish sponsors. Ambassador Victor Ashe attended as guest of honor and introduced the film, praising the director for producing a film highlighting “the heroic deeds of a courageous Polish cavalryman who dedicated his life to the cause of freedom.”
The documentary has aired on Polish Public television as well.
The U.S. Senate passed a bill on March 19, 2007 proclaiming Casimir Pulaski an honorary citizen of the United States posthumously. The bill is currently pending U.S. House of Representatives action. You can read the full text of the House bill here.
