Nowa Wieś Students Discuss U.S. History, Sports and Entertainment at the Embassy

U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe welcomed to the Embassy on October 25 a group of high-school students from Nowa Wieś to meet and talk with a number of U.S. diplomats as part of the Embassy's Meet America program. The Ambassador spoke about the history of U.S.-Polish relations and answered questions on current issues in U.S.-Polish political relations. Assistant Cultural Attaché Hilary Renner spoke about famous Poles who contributed to American history and culture, focusing on Kazimierz Pulaski and his role in the American Revolutionary War. Cultural Attaché James Wolfe talked to the students about the entertainment industry in the United States, including the film and music sectors and how new technology is shaping the future for these industries. Chief of the American Citizens Service section Scott Renner spoke about the sports industry in the United States and its economic impact on the whole country. The students took the opportunity to ask questions to each of the speakers about American sports, history and immigration policy, reflecting a strong interest in the U.S. culture.
