The U.S. Embassy hosted a student group from Sandomierz in a Meet America Program on October 18, 2007. The group of forty-eight students from Teacher Training College in Sandomierz visited the Embassy to learn about U.S. press and legal issues, and Consular Section activities and visa issues. U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe welcomed the group, which asked a lot of questions about U.S.-Polish diplomatic relations and what it entails to be the U.S. Ambassador to Poland. Press Attachè Andrew Schilling introduced to the group the U.S. ideas about freedom of the press and gave examples from U.S. press history. Non-Immigrant Visa Chief Karin King spoke about student visas and explained the benefits of the Summer Work & Travel Program, encouraging the group to consider spending a summer in the United States. Legal Officer Monika Wasiewicz told the students how she became an FBI agent and what her job in Poland is like. The speakers answered numerous questions from the students interested in American culture, international relations, education and visas. This is the second time the students of Teacher Training College of Foreign Languages from Sandomierz have come to the Embassy for a program. In March 2007 Consular Officer Melinda Fountain visited the College in Sandomierz for a Embassy Speakers Bureau event.
