WARSAW The American School of Warsaw (ASW) welcomes Dr. Charles Barder as the new director for the 2002-2003 school year. Dr. Barder brings a wealth of experience in the U.S. and overseas educational systems, working at the elementary, middle, high school and university levels, as a classroom teacher, a counselor, and an administrator. He has worked around the world, in Indonesia, Syria, the U.S., Malaysia, Zaire, and for the past six years in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Barder's extensive experience will be an asset to the school as he works closely with the community to maintain ASW's outstanding reputation both in Poland and abroad. "I am delighted and honored to have been chosen as the Director for the American School of Warsaw. It is an outstanding opportunity for me, both personally and professionally. With hard-working students, a highly professional and experienced faculty, and involved parents, the excellent reputation of ASW is well-known in the region and throughout the world. One year ago, ASW took an important step aligning its facilities with its exceptional academic program when it relocated to a state-of-the-art facility in Konstancin. The new ASW is a multi-school complex that now houses the elementary school (grades PK-5), middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades (9-12). The new campus is complete with sports fields, classrooms networked for computer usage, an early childhood wing, 3 computer labs, 7 science labs, 2 gymnasiums, 3 music rooms, 5 art rooms, a cafeteria, a library and a 350 seat auditorium. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the European Council of International Schools. It is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma by the IB Organization. And it meets all adequacy standards for the U.S. State Department.
