Boeing has signed a six-year contract with Polish manufacturer WZK (Wytwornia Zespołów Kooperacyjnych) for the manufacture of spare passenger doors for the fleet of Boeing 757s in operation worldwide.

The contract, signed in April 2005, is valued at approximately $7 million and covers the production of all requirements for spare passenger door assemblies and details.

“WZK’s proven performance on Boeing programs in the past, along with competitive pricing made it the logical choice for this contract,” said Brian Herbert, director of Industrial Participation, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “We are very pleased that WZK remains a valued member of our Polish supplier base.”

WZK, based in Mielec, produced all the passenger doors for the 757 from late 1992 to 2005. Throughout this period of the 757 program WZK delivered more than 3,000 doors for more than 500 757s.

The 757 completed its production run earlier this year. There are nearly 1,000 757s in service today that require spare parts support.
