On June 9, Geoffrey Mazullo, Director of the Partners for Financial Stability (PFS) of the East-West Management Institute (EWMI) will deliver a speech at the American Embassy in Warsaw entitled “Corporate Governance in Poland – An American Perspective.”
Since 1999, the PFS Program (a cooperative program of USAID and EWMI) has worked closely with Polish and other Central European institutions to promote the adoption of sound corporate governance standards.
The United States Government supports international efforts to improve corporate governance standards as an important part of the overall efforts of countries to promote long-term, sustainable economic growth.
The PFS Program’s activities in Poland and other Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries have been very helpful in providing information about current corporate governance issues to companies throughout the region.
One of the most innovative initiatives EWMI has established is its semi-annual survey of online investor relations.
This survey analyzes the online information provided by the ten largest listed companies on each of the stock markets in 11 CEE countries, and rates them on the content contained.
On March 2, 2005 EWMI released its eighth semi-annual survey, which noted slight improvements in online disclosures.
EWMI has also instituted a unique survey of reporting on corporate social responsibility. EWMI’s surveys can be accessed through its web site, www.pfsprogram.org/capitalmarkets_research.php, or through http://www.pfsprogram.org/activities_pfs_cee_poland.php
