CASERMA EDERLE, VICENZA, ITALY— Approximately 750 soldiers from the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade, 21st Theatre Support Command, V Corps, 5th Signal Command, and Polish Forces will participate in Immediate Response 04, a field training exercise conducted in Poland Sept. 15-30.
Immediate Response 04 will involve a combined airborne insertion by elements of SETAF’s 173rd Airborne Brigade and Polish Airborne Forces; platoon and company level situational training exercises; and interoperability training between Polish rotary wing aircraft, logistical units and other U.S. units.
The director of the exercise is Brig. Gen Jason K. Kamiya, the SETAF commanding General. The Polish Ministry of Defense will host the exercise.
The training area is called the Wedryzn Training Area and is located near the small city of Sulecin, Poland.

Events open to media include the following:
Sept. 20 - Airborne Assault by approximately 200 U.S. and Polish paratroopers at the Wedryzn Training Area (weather permitting). This is for film and video only. No interviews on this day. Media need to arrive no later than 5 p.m. at the training site. Sept. 23 - Platoon and company level situational training exercises in field and urban terrain at Wedryzn Training Area. Media coverage allowed only during the day, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending 3 p.m. Interviews are possible. Sept. 26 - Airborne assault and jump wing exchange between Polish and U.S. forces. Media coverage allowed 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
