Representative Ed Murray has served since 2001 as Chairman of the Washington State House Transportation Budget and Policy Committee. During that time, the state has instituted historic reforms to its transportation system, streamlining bureaucracy, improving project delivery, and establishing clear lines of accountability and transparency. During this period the legislature passed the largest funding package for transportation in the state’s history and Washington State currently has the largest transportation construction program in the United States. Representative Murray was the primary sponsor of successful legislation that created a public-private partnership program in the State of Washington.
Representative Murray is a native of Washington State and has a degree in Sociology from the University of Portland, Oregon. He has served in the Washington State legislature since 1995. In addition to his committee chairmanship, he serves on the Washington State Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Transportation, Revenue Committee; the Puget Sound Regional Council, Transportation Policy Board; and the Trans-Lake Washington Project, Executive Committee. |
