Twenty-three Polish Army Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) recently graduated from the U.S. Army’s Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC) in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Among these were four Honor Graduates, including Michal Kuzdro, who was the Distinguished International Military Student.

Ninety-seven Polish NCOs have graduated from the PLDC, which is more than all other countries participating in the program.

Major Ray Wojcik from the Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation escorted Brigadier General Jerzy Wojcik, commander of the Polish 6th Airborne Brigade in Krakow, along with the Polish Land Forces Sergeant Major of the Army Henryk Ostapski to the ceremony.

Sergeant Major Ostapski is a graduate of the US Sergeants Major Academy in Fort Bliss, Texas.

Poland is working closely with American NCO academies and other programs in training Poland’s NCO corps.

Due to the success of the Polish program, the United States Army Europe has expanded this opportunity to additional countries.

In July 2005, the Illinois National Guard will run a Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (BNCOC) in Torun for Polish soldiers.
