International Military Education and Training
The International Military Education and Training (IMET) Program is a component of the U.S. security assistance program which provides training to Polish military and defense-associated civilian personnel on a grant basis. Training is provided at U.S. military facilities as well as in Poland. IMET courses are particularly well-suited to building relationships between U.S. and Polish officers by allowing them to study, alongside one another, and to interact on both a professional and personal level. Poland has had an extremely robust IMET program, worth over $24M during the past 16 years. Many of Poland’s senior leaders have receive top-notch training at U.S. war colleges; command and staff colleges; and other leadership and technical courses. Several graduates have gone on to serve as Chiefs of Defense and Commanders of Armed Services in Poland.
Within the Office of Defense Cooperation, Ms. Magdalena Szkop serves as the Director of Combined Education and Training Programs, to include IMET.
