News Conference to Answer Questions About Program’s Success
Ambassador Victor Ashe and Pawel Dakowski from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration will attend a news conference at Okecie Airport on Monday, December 6, to help answer questions about the Immigration Advisory Program (IAP), which is now three months old. The IAP is designed to reduce the number of travelers turned away at U.S. ports of entry because of invalid or expired visas.
Under the program passengers likely to be turned back – who make up less than 1% of all Polish citizens admitted to the U.S. annually – are informed are informed of this possibility before they board the plane, saving themselves a round-trip ride to the U.S. and the accompanying inconvenience and expense.
When IAP began in September, officials said they would evaluate the program for its strengths and weaknesses and then determine its future. Their initial conclusions will be presented at the news conference.
