I am planning a short business trip to Houston, TX early next year (February 2006) and have just noticed that my B1/B2 visa will expire on July 22, 2006. Should I apply for a new U.S .visa before then as the gap between my planned trip and the visa expiration date is less than 6 months?

No, you do not need a new visa. You may use your current B1/B2 visa to travel to the U.S. in February. The visa only needs to be valid on the day you enter the U.S.; it does not need to be valid for the entire length of your stay in the U.S. The immigration officer at the airport in the U.S. will determine how long you will be allowed to stay in the U.S. Enjoy your visit to Texas!
