The White House has announced that Secretary of State Colin Powell will lead a seven-person Presidential delegation to attend the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
In addition to the Secretary, the group will include U.S. Ambassador-designate to Poland Victor Ashe, Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago (Warsaw's sister city), Archbishop of Detroit Adam Cardinal Maida, Ronald Lauder Chairman of Clinique, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Edward Derwinski, and Chester Partyka of the former President of the Polish American Congress of Ohio. The group arrives this weekend.
In addition to participating in events commemorating the Uprising, Secretary Powell is expected to meet with President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Prime Minister Marek Belka and Foreign Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
